It may not be easy right now to see why the Game of High School Football and the communities that support it need help. But we think it is obvious to see once you look closer or spend anytime with the game during the off-season.
Recruiters, PAID STREET AGENTS, Profiteers, National Conglomerates, Unscrupulous Camp and Combine Owners, and a Host of others have jumped in with one primary goal in mind. To Lie, Cheat, Over promise, and take all they can from our kids and our local families. And their influences are being felt at the big and small school level.
If you love High School Football you need to get involved and join us. While we have all been watching the kids give it all for their school and their team the game has had some newcomers. Many of them from outside the communities and their intention is not to help our kids but rather to profit from High School Football in a way that is not helpful to the kids or the teams and community they play for.
Some of these forces were the same folks that influenced Pro and then Collegiate Sports. Now they want to take the game of High School football from the kids, coaches, and communities and run with it all the way to the Bank.
In the meantime kids and families have been caught in the middle not knowing who to trust nor how to handle the pressures being added to their already stressful lives.
Here at Football Northwest we are building a community of compassionate people who want to maintain the Sanctity of High School. We are parents, Coaches, Community Leaders, Players, Trainers, and fans. Your All Invited to Join Us and We Need You!
What do we want and propose to do?
First of all we want to put the power of decision-making on issues like off-season camps and recruiting services into the hands of the parents and kids working with their High School Coaches and supporters. To do that we need a system of checks and balances put upon third-party vendors of camps, clinics, paid football events, and Recruiting Services. Together Our Group here at this Community Web site will do just that. And we need your help to do it.
Look for Our Camp Rating Service, our Recruiting Service Rating and our Football Northwest Hotline as ways you can Join in on the Conversation.
What other areas will Football Northwest be working on to help our kids and teams?
Certainly a great question. We are asking all the High School Coaches in the region to stand with us on issues that are important to they and their kids and families.
Questions have arises about Ethical Standards by members of the “New Media” who are seeking access to our locker rooms and fields as many seem to be connected to questionable people. We want to see a code of ethics and bonding required for these sort of folks so that oversight can be insured in this most murky of areas of sport.
Other things to consider are safety standards for our kids, reviewing best practices, and working with the folks at USA FOOTBALL, NFHS, NCAA, and the NFL to make sure that all of our NW Kids Grades K-12 get the best brand of football they can get.
Other issues already identified include gambling on High School Games, abuse of banned substances, improper contact with collegiate coaches and recruiters over Social Media, and attendance and participation in unregulated Private Camps who do not complete background checks or have proper insurance.
Lastly we are building a Recruiting Help Center that will become a Wealth of resources for our kids and families. The joint experience of our Members is going to be something special indeed.
So the Mission Statement for Football Northwest is what then?
The Mission of Football Northwest is to build a Community of High School Football supporters who believe that the sanctity, safety, and well-being of our athletes and our NW Football Community is too important not to preserve. Together we will do just that.
